Methodology
Our framework draws on neuroscience, environmental psychology, ergonomics, organizational sociology and behavioral economics - More than 200 scientific references
01 · The dimensions
Each dimension captures one facet of the lived experience of the workspace. Together, they form a complete dashboard of human performance.
This axis measures the ability of the space to encourage spontaneous, varied and fluid interactions between people, thereby stimulating collective dynamics.
This axis assesses the extent to which the work environment adapts to employees' emotional needs, allowing transitions between calm, stimulation and collaboration.
This axis examines how spaces express the company's identity, values and culture in a visible and lived way.
This axis analyses how the space encourages active participation, initiative and cooperation between members of an organization.
This axis assesses how well places integrate hybrid working (on-site/remote), ensuring fairness, comfort and continuity of work.
This axis assesses the extent to which spaces foster links with external stakeholders (clients, partners, local area), by cultivating hospitality, porosity and local roots.
This axis assesses how the layout of spaces influences people's inclusion and the quality of hierarchical relationships.
This axis assesses the extent to which the work environment fosters a sensory connection with the living world, through the presence of nature or sensory elements inspired by the natural world.
02 · The process
The organization subscribes to the STM offer. The questionnaire is then rolled out to all the employees concerned. Each person assesses their experience in their workspaces across the 8 dimensions.
The responses are analyzed and summarized into an overall score and a score per dimension. The organization is positioned on each of the 8 axes and receives a detailed report.
A working session with an STM expert to analyze the results in depth, understand the organization's specific dynamics and identify concrete action priorities.
If the threshold is reached, the organization receives the STM label, valid for 2 years and renewable. You are certified — or you are not. If the label is not awarded, the report details the dimensions to strengthen as a priority.
03 · Our tool
The STM questionnaire is available online through a dedicated platform. Simple, quick and accessible on web browsers and mobile, it has been designed to maximize employee response rates.
The platform also offers a real-time dashboard to track the progress of data collection, then explore the results dimension by dimension.
04 · Compliance
A label's credibility rests on the rigor of its assessment process and the independence of its assessors.
Our framework was developed with La Fabrique Spinoza, drawing on more than 200 academic publications in neuroscience, environmental psychology, ergonomics, organizational sociology and behavioral economics.
Scores are calculated automatically from employees' responses. No external consultant is involved in the scoring — lived experience comes first.
Employee data is anonymized and processed in compliance with the GDPR. No individual response is accessible to the employer. Only aggregated results are shared.
The STM framework is regularly updated to incorporate the latest research advances and changes in working practices. Each renewal benefits from the updated framework.
